📍 Mumbai

Day 1 | Mumbai Arrival

Arrive in Mumbai and let the city set its own introductions. Fast-track formalities, a chauffeured run down Marine Drive, and your sea-facing suite at the Taj Mahal Palace, where the harbour has been the evening's entertainment since 1903.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingThe Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai (Sea Facing Suite)

Mumbai is a city of contrasts that never resolve, and are better for it — colonial stone beside glass towers, centuries-old trades under film hoardings. Let the first evening be unscheduled.

📍 Mumbai

Day 2 | Mumbai sightseeing

The Gateway of India at morning light, then the UNESCO Victorian and Art Deco ensemble around the Oval Maidan with a conservation architect. Afternoon belongs to the bazaars — Crawford Market's produce theatre and the lanes where everything in Mumbai can, eventually, be found.

LodgingThe Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai
Meal OptionsMaharashtrian tasting lunch · Parsi café classics at dinner

The world's second-largest Art Deco collection stares down High Victorian Gothic across a cricket field — nowhere else does architecture argue this politely.

📍 Aurangabad

Day 3 | Fly to Aurangabad

Fly east onto the Deccan plateau. Aurangabad is the gateway to two of humanity's great rock-cut achievements, and it earns an afternoon of its own first: Bibi Ka Maqbara — the 'Deccan Taj' — and the medieval gates that once ringed the city.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingTaj Hotel & Convention Centre, Aurangabad
Meal OptionsMughlai-Deccan dinner — kebabs and aromatic rice

Aurangabad sits on the old trade and pilgrimage routes across the Deccan, and its skyline still carries Mughal and Nizam-era accents. The city is the base camp; the caves are the summit.

📍 Aurangabad

Day 4 | Ajanta Caves Tour

Two hours north to Ajanta, where thirty caves were cut into a horseshoe cliff over eight centuries — and then forgotten for a thousand years. The Buddhist murals inside remain the finest ancient paintings in Asia: pigment, shadow and serenity, all of it done by lamplight.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingTaj Hotel & Convention Centre, Aurangabad
Meal OptionsMaharashtrian thali lunch en route · hotel dinner

Ajanta was lost to the jungle until a British hunting party stumbled on it in 1819. What survived that millennium of silence is painting of a delicacy nothing else ancient matches.

📍 Aurangabad

Day 5 | Ellora Caves Tour

Ellora, close by and impossibly grander in scale: Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves sharing one basalt escarpment. Its centrepiece, the Kailasa Temple, was carved top-down out of the living mountain — the largest monolithic structure on earth, made by subtraction alone.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingTaj Hotel & Convention Centre, Aurangabad
Meal OptionsDeccan royal-kitchen dinner — naan, slow gravies

Three faiths carved side by side for four centuries without erasing each other — Ellora is an argument for coexistence made in stone. Kailasa alone removed two hundred thousand tonnes of rock.

📍 Hyderabad

Day 6 | Fly to Hyderabad

Fly southeast to Hyderabad, the city of the Nizams, and check into Taj Falaknuma Palace — a former royal residence on a hill above the city, reached by horse-drawn carriage up the drive. The Nizam's dining table seats 101; you will find the scale is sincere.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingTaj Falaknuma Palace (Palace Room)
Meal OptionsHyderabadi dum biryani, done properly · Irani chai to finish

Hyderabad layers Qutb Shahi forts, Nizami palaces and a technology corridor without apology. The City of Pearls still trades them in the lanes around Charminar.

The curator's advisory, daily highlights and optional experiences for this day are shared privately — tap Hidden Gems above.

📍 Hyderabad

Day 7 | Hyderabad Sights

Charminar at morning light, with Laad Bazaar's bangle and pearl lanes waking around it, then the afternoon at Golconda — the fort whose acoustics carry a handclap from gate to citadel, and whose mines gave the world the Koh-i-Noor. Sunset from the ramparts is the Deccan at full width.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
Meal OptionsOld City food walk — kebabs, haleem in season, Irani café chai

The Old City is best read with a local — its lanes have been trading pearls, perfume and bangles for four centuries and the choreography takes translation.

📍 Cochin

Day 8 | Fly to Cochin

Trade the plateau for the spice coast. A short flight, then Fort Kochi's converted Victorian shipyard hotel on the harbour's edge — container ships past the lawn, six centuries of trade in the salt air, and the Chinese fishing nets waiting at the end of the promenade.

Meal OptionsFresh seafood on the Fort Kochi waterfront

Kochi is a meeting point of civilisations — Arab, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, British — all still legible in the streets. Fort Kochi keeps the slow pace; stay on this side of the water in the evenings.

The curator's advisory, daily highlights and optional experiences for this day are shared privately — tap Hidden Gems above.

📍 Cochin

Day 9 | Cochin sightseeing

Sunrise with the net fishermen, then Mattancherry: the Dutch Palace's Ramayana murals, the Paradesi Synagogue's hand-painted Canton tiles, and warehouses where pepper is still sorted on the floor by hand. KathakaliKathakaliKerala's classical dance-theatre, in which elaborately painted and costumed performers enact the epics through codified gesture and expression. Meal OptionsKerala Sadya on banana leaf · spice-forward tasting dinner

Every wall on today's walk was paid for in pepper. The quarter still works — heritage below, galleries above, commerce throughout.

📍 Alleppey

Day 10 | Board Houseboat

Drive south and step aboard a private kettuvallamkettuvallamThe traditional rice barge of Kerala's backwaters — teak hull lashed with coir rope, famously without nails — reborn as the private houseboat that…Read in the glossary ↗ on Vembanad Lake — dark timber, coir rope, a crew of three and nowhere to be. The afternoon unspools through canals past below-sea-level paddies and villages that commute by canoe. Dinner is cooked aboard as the palms take the sun.

LodgingPrivate Luxury Houseboat, Vembanad Lake (overnight)
Meal OptionsKerala Sadya aboard · fresh backwater seafood

The backwaters are a working transport network, not a spectacle — school ferries, post boats and rice barges all share the water. The experience is immersion, not sightseeing.

The curator's advisory, daily highlights and optional experiences for this day are shared privately — tap Hidden Gems above.

📍 Alleppey

Day 11 | Houseboat cruise

Wake to mist on the water and breakfast on deck as the backwaters start their commute. The morning cruise threads quieter channels — birdlife, coir villages, rice barges — before the houseboat delivers you back to shore, recalibrated.

LodgingPrivate Luxury Houseboat → shore transfer
Meal OptionsDeck breakfast · backwater lunch before disembarking

Alleppey has been called the Venice of the East, which undersells it — Venice does not grow its own rice. Centuries of coir-making and paddy farming shaped every bank you pass.

The curator's advisory, daily highlights and optional experiences for this day are shared privately — tap Hidden Gems above.

📍 Marari

Day 12 | Drive to Marari

A short drive west and the backwaters hand you to the Arabian Sea. Marari is a fishing coast that happens to have a resort on it, not the reverse — golden sand, wooden boats, and your pool villa a minute's walk into the coconut grove.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingMarari Beach Resort — CGH Earth (Pool Villa)
Meal OptionsGrilled Arabian Sea catch with Kerala spices

Marari's shoreline is still a working coast — boats out at sunrise, nets mended in the afternoon shade. The palm groves behind the beach hide a village going about its centuries-old business.

The curator's advisory, daily highlights and optional experiences for this day are shared privately — tap Hidden Gems above.

📍 Marari

Day 13 | Marari leisure

Nothing scheduled, everything available. Sunrise walkers get the returning fleet; the rest get hammocks, pool and a lunch that refuses to be hurried. The village lanes behind the beach reward a slow bicycle if restlessness wins.

LodgingMarari Beach Resort — CGH Earth
Meal OptionsBeachside Kerala breakfast — appam, stew, seafood omelette

The temptation is to fill this day; resist it. A working coast watched slowly is better entertainment than any excursion we could book.

The curator's advisory, daily highlights and optional experiences for this day are shared privately — tap Hidden Gems above.

📍 Marari

Day 14 | Beach day

A final sea day with one decision in it: a canoe excursion back into Alleppey's quieter canals, or the beach, the spa and absolutely nothing else. Dinner settles it — the day's catch, grilled at the tide line.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingMarari Beach Resort — CGH Earth
Meal OptionsFarewell beach grill — the day's catch

The backwaters are twenty minutes east if you want one last float. There is no wrong answer on day fourteen; there is only the sea's counteroffer.

📍 Cochin

Day 15 | Depart Cochin

Breakfast with the sea, then the drive to Cochin International Airport. Fifteen days across the Deccan and down the Malabar coast — cave murals, Nizam palaces, spice harbours, backwaters, and finally the open sea. India, taken in cross-section.

MUMBAIAURANGABADHYDERABADCOCHINALLEPPEYMARARI BEACHCOCHIN
LodgingDay use as required
Meal OptionsFinal beachside breakfast

Ninety minutes to the airport plus buffer. If the flight is late we arrange a Fort Kochi lunch en route — better than airport hours, every time.
